A New Day Yesterday is Joe Bonamassa’s debut studio album, released in 2000. It’s named for the 1969 hit song by Jethro Tull, a cover of which is featured on the album by Bonamassa.

It’s always interesting to see the difference between an original and a cover song, however, so be sure to check out the two videos below. The first is that of Tull performing his popular song - and the second, of course, is of Bonamassa playing his reprisal of “A New Day Yesterday” live. Check ‘em both out and see which one you like more. (And even if you do prefer the original, you have to admit that Bonamassa does a damn good job.)

The following songs are found on the album, as well:
1. Cradle Rock
2. Walk In My Shadows
3. A New Day Yesterday
4. I Know Where I Belong
5. Miss You, Hate You (Rock Radio Remix)
6. Nuthin’ I Wouldn’t Do (For A Woman Like You)
7. Colour and Shape
8. Headaches to Heartbreaks
9. Trouble Waiting
10. If Heartaches Were Nickels
11. Current Situation

Bloodline, however, did not last long. They only cut one album in their time together, which produced two singles on the charts: “Stone Cold Hearted” and “Dixie Peach”. Their album, aptly named Bloodline, was their last, and they broke up afterwards.

Here’s a video detailing the collaboration and what became of it. Don’t forget to move on to the second part after the first is finished.

Hold on to your hats, rock and roll fans near Hollywood: Joe Bonamassa’s about to show up.

The up-and-coming rock and blues legend is set to hold an afternoon clinic on July 31 at the Guitar Institute of Technology in Hollywood. And given that he’s being called one of the best guitar players of a generation by multiple sources, it’s a clinic guitar players and singers should probably get in on if they have the time.

Bonamassa has proven himself a patron of the bluesy arts, acting as the youngest-ever member on the board of directors for the Blues Foundation. He’s also the spokesperson for their ‘Blues in the Schools’ program, which teaches students all over the country about the influence of the blues.

Joe Bonamassa has been heralded as one of the best guitarists of his generation. So it’s only fitting that one of the best guitarists cover a song by one of the best bands of the last century - namely, Led Zeppelin’s “Tea For One”.

“Tea For One” appeared on Bonamassa’s 2006 album You And Me, and its drum portions (along with every other song on the album) were done by Jason Bonham, son of late Led Zeppelin drummer John Bonham. The song is extremely long, clocking in at just over nine minutes long (almost the same length as the original), and is possibly superior to the older Led Zeppelin release (though that, of course, is subject to personal opinion).

Not sure which is better? Compare the two and see how you feel.

“This kid deserves to be in the same class with Stevie Ray fuckin Vaughan and Jimmy Hendrix and Jeff Beck,” said famed rock guitarist Ten Nugent after a jam sessions with Bonamassa for the VH-1 show Supergroup. If praise for guitar skills is worth its weight in gold from any source, it’s from Ted Nugent.

Bonamassa has a long history of guitar playing. He’s been handling the things since he was four, playing on a short-scale Chiquita given to him by his father, who both played and sold guitars. It didn’t take long before Bonamassa moved up the ranks and got a full-scale guitar to rock out on. His guitar skills led him to tour with the legendary B.B. King, from whose roster he eventually flew the coop and started no his solo albums.

Joe Bonamassa is a master of the guitar. His soulful blues attitude flows through every note he puts out. And his singing, gritty though it may be, perfectly conveys the power of his songs and his message. And there’s no better example of this than the Joe Bonamassa Blues Deluxe.

Released in 2003, Blues Deluxe is 12 songs strong, featuring nine covers of other blues songs by a number of noted artists and three of Bonamassa’s own creations. By fusing blues and rock into one competent synthesis Bonamassa makes these songs all his own.

Songs on the CD include You Upset Me Baby, Burning Hell, the self-titled Blues Deluxe, Man of Many Words, Wild About You Baby, Left Overs and Walking Blues.

Playlist for Joe Bonamassa’s Blues Deluxe:

1. You Upset Me, Baby
2. Burning Hell
3. Blues Deluxe
4. Man of Many Words
5. Woke up Dreaming
6. I Don’t Live Anywhere
7. Wild About You Baby
8. Long Distance Blues
9. Pack It Up
10. Left Overs
11. Walking Blues
